On September 16, 2011, Rolling Thunder, KY Chapter Two conducted a candle light vigil in honor of POW/MIA day on the Glasgow Square. Barren County JROTC Color Guard presented the colors under the guidance of Ret. Sgt. Maj. Freddie Joe Wilkerson, who also serves as a member of Rolling Thunder, KY Chapter Two.
The key note speaker was Ret. Col. Rondal Turner who served as Chief of Staff of Kentucky National Guard and Commander of the 1/623rd Field Artillery in Glasgow, KY. Ret. Col. Rondal Turner spoke on how we should stay the course and never forget the ones that never came home and are still missing or captured. We should honor that legacy by never forgetting them and never stop looking for those soldiers left behind from all wars and conflicts.
Other speakers that spoke at the event were County Judge Executive Davie Greer of Barren County, commander of Freedom Warriors (a veterans organization) Ernie Wagner, and Jasmine Sadler a Cadet Captain of Barren County JROTC spoke about her great grandfather who was a POW in World War II. Rolling Thunder INC is committed to bring legislation to Washington, DC to make sure those POW/MIA’s are accounted for and never forgotten.
